E-mail service has been restored. Mail queued up over the last 48 hours is being delivered to all user InBoxes. Sending and Receiving of e-mail is working normally again. Mail present before this service interruption is NOT currently present in your mailboxes. CTS continues to work at restoring that mail. A more detailed notice about this will be sent tomorrow (Tuesday).
Final configuration of the new mail server is in progress. More news soon.
Work continues. Nothing more specific to report. Next update: tomorrow morning.
Technicians were up early checking on the mail transfer which ran through the night: still in progress.
Staff have worked today to preserve our e-mail and migrate it to new storage. The new server is configured and ready to go once e-mail has been migrated. We *anticipate* 24-36 more hours will be involved. (Again: MILLIONS of messages!) Next update: Sunday morning.
Migration of our mail server to new hardware has been in progress all day. Messages are being copied. There are literally millions…it will take time.
The e-mail server is being left off for the night. CTS will resume work restoring service in the morning
While our main server is down, users are prevented from accessing mail already delivered. Main being sent while the main server is down is NOT bouncing back to senders–it is being queued and stored until the main server comes back online, at which point it will eventually deliver.
E-mail, which was working for most (but not all) users for much of the day, is now completely offline as CTS works to stabilize the server itself. Updates as we know more.
