Welcome back to the athletics blog! I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season. With the beginning of the New Year comes the continuation of Bears winter athletics and a new development at Maxcy Hall.

After wrapping up their non-conference schedules on Tuesday, the men’s and women’s basketball teams resume State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 7-8, at home. In lieu of charging for a ticket, the athletic department invites fans to bring non-perishable food items for donation to the Potsdam Neighborhood Center. While a donation is not required for admission, we highly encourage participation and hope to see a big crowd!

The men’s and women’s hockey teams resume play this weekend on the road against non-conference opponents. Each team returns home on Tuesday, Jan. 11, for games against Castleton. Non-perishable food items will also be collected at these games in place of the price of admission.

As you enter Maxcy Hall and move up to the second floor near the ice arena and gymnasium, you’ll notice several large monitors along the way. Recently, the sports information department released content for digital signage, which is being run on each of the monitors. The digital signage is similar to what is posted on the walls on campus in Crumb Library and Raymond Hall. Visit Maxcy to see program information, recent results, upcoming events, student-athlete profiles and the latest information on SUNY Potsdam athletics.

Best of luck to everyone in the New Year, and we’ll see you around campus.
