Did you know we have a 24-hour ask-a-librarian service?  Check our Ask A Librarian page, and click on Ask Us 24/7.  You may not  get a Potsdam librarian — lots of librarians at colleges and universities across New York and the United States are part of the project — but you will get help.

But it’s a shame that you may not always get a Potsdam librarian, because our librarians are great at helping with research questions.  Holly Chambers and Nancy Alzo have both gotten the Transcript of the Quarter award from Ask Us 24/7 — that means Potsdam’s gotten half the awards for the year.  Fantastic work, Holly and Nancy!

If you would like to work with one of our award-winning librarians, stop by the Reference Desk in Crumb or the circulation desk in Crane during our drop-in hours, or schedule a consultation.  We’re glad to help, and we’re good at it!

Current issues are often the subject of concern to House or Senate committees of the U.S. Congress. They may hold “hearings” at which persons testify about the issue. A recent example – “distracted driving” – which has been the subject of hearings in both chambers of Congress. This is an example of a congressional hearing.

You can search for congressional hearings using either

1) Catalog of U.S. Government Publications, or

2) FDsys – the new federal government search system

Do you know who your congressman is, and which congressional district you vote in?  Find your representative by state and name then you can map the district that he/she represents using the National Atlas.  And, of course, don’t forget to vote on Nov. 2.

Did you know that the Libraries have Lost And Found bins?  And did you know that right now we have more than 20 USB drives in the one at Crumb?

So… if you’ve lost your flash drive, come by the Circulation Desk at either of our libraries, and see if yours is living with us.  We’ll be glad to return it to you!
